Therapy Staff: Putting
(March 20, 2020) We want to keep you informed on the steps we are taking to maintain a safe environment for our patients and staff.
Our therapy services have altered the way care is provided. We have taken the following steps:
All staff are screened every shift, every day.
For our staff, we have adopted the following travel-related restrictions:
COVID-19 Restrictions/Changes in Operations
We are following CDC guidance on minimizing COVID-19 risks to our patients and staff.
We continue to screen staff for signs and symptoms, every shift. We are ensuring our staff and residents are practicing proper hand hygiene. And, we have a trained infection preventionist who is taking the lead on our efforts.
Our changes in operation include:
Activities brought to the patient
With social visits restricted, per CMS guidance, we are approaching activities with a different focus. This includes one-on-one activities, as well as activities room service, where each patient is surveyed on the activities they may find of interest.
This often includes cross word puzzles, books, magazines, crochet, and other individual activities.
Our activities director is also available to assist with FaceTime, webcam, and phone calls.
We have implemented a pre-admission quick screen of all referrals to Crown Point. This step provides an additional layer of review of conditions on all potential patients.
Communicating with patients
We understand communicating with your loved ones is important. Each of our guest rooms have a telephone with local and long-distance capabilities. You can contact your loved one at 806.687.6640.
Extra cleaning protocols and precautions
We have implemented extra cleaning precautions and provided additional training to our staff on the use of cleaning supplies.
Minimize Risk of Transmission
Through the CDC and others, we have learned best practices to minimize risk of the virus’s transmission. This includes many of the steps we discuss here as well maximizing social distance within the facility.
Our Commitment: Putting PeopleFirst
We are dedicated to serving our patients, residents, and staff every day. This is a rapidly developing situation and we remain in close contact with federal, state, and local public health authorities. We will keep you informed, on a daily basis as we learn more and how our procedures are being altered.
